Since 2007, we at The Howard County MD Chapter of The Society, Incorporated, have been committed to serving as a local resource, nurturing artistic talent among young individuals in our community. Operating as a 501(c)3 organization, we are dedicated to providing arts programs for underserved youth.
We are proud to offer two (2) $1,250.00 Emerging Artist Scholarships to underserved graduating high school students who are planning to study and/or college enrolled students who are currently studying in the following areas of art:
- Literary Arts – Non-fiction and fiction writing, poetry, prose, essays (and other writing), artistic student response
- Performing Arts – Dance, stage, oratorical speech, and other theatrical performances
- Visual Arts – Fine, applied, painting, drawing, design, photography, videography, and digital art, film making/editing, fashion, and culinary
- Instrumental Arts – Instrumental music, conducting, composition, scoring, and vocal music
We invite those students who meet the following criteria to apply by Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:59PM:
- A minority senior student at an accredited high school in good standing and eligible to receive a high school diploma at the end of 2023-2024 academic year and plan to attend college in the fall OR an enrolled student at an accredited institution of higher learning in good standing.
- Hold a minimum of 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. from your high school or institution of higher learning.
- Be involved in school and community leadership activities and exhibit qualities of high character and integrity.
- Complete the formal scholarship application.
